Marketing Gone Wrong? Mwizukanji draws heat over a facebook post during ECL mourning period.
Renowned Zambian social media personality and entrepreneur Mwizukanji unknowingly found herself at the center of a boiling online backlash after publishing content or rather post which didn’t sit well with other social media users as it has been termed as disrespectful and a mockery toward the late and Zambia’s former republican president Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Mwizukanji’s post was made more like a marketing strategy however the way it was phrased ended meaning something else which many people didn’t like. The following is what she posted on their facebook page, “ We have chifwema promo at meatopia tonight get your ocra fish at k100 valid today only call 0777473272”. Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu served as a sixth republican president from 2015 to 2021 after loosing elections to president Hakainde Hichilema who is the current sitting head of state. President Lungu passed away on June 5th 2025 in Pretoria South Africa.
A 7 days of national mourning in honor of ECL was declared by president Hakainde Hichilema from 8th June to Saturday 14th June 2025, and later another 9 days was added meaning national mourning was supposed to end on 23rd June 2025. Since his demise the nation has been mourning with flags flying half-mast not until president Hakainde Hichilema called off the national mourning after the Lungu family failed to avail the remains of president Lungu for repatriation.
